I ran into someone today and we got talking about covid19.
This person is a Christian, but was extremely fearful.
I was questioned on my stance with everything that is going on right now, as part of the discussion I mentioned that the Bible says “Do not fear” and that we have Psalm 91 to live under.
The response I got was “I’m sorry, I don’t agree with you!”
I think I was a bit taken aback…WHAT!!!
(and I let it go as he was not in a place to listen, but it got me thinking!)
OK, so your saying you don’t agree with the Bible where it says “Fear Not” and you don’t agree that as Christians we can live under Psalm 91 which is God’s promise to us!
I struggle with the whole concept of picking and choosing of what we believe in the Bible, it is either true or not true – YES?
So if as a Christian, you believe what the Bible says about your salvation…then why not about your healing, your protection, Gods blessings, God’s promises etc.
Did you know “Fear not!” is one of the most repeated commands in the Bible.
And yet what are most Christians doing right now – Living in fear!!!
David in Psalm 56:3-4 says
When I am afraid,
I will trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
In God I trust; I will not be afraid.
What can mortal man do to me?
Hmmm an interesting last line…right now this is what people are afraid of,
- of getting into trouble (by man)
- getting fines (by man)
- of being branded as a conspiracy theorist (which is another word in this climate for a critical thinker) – (by man)
- of getting the covid19 flu – made by man
Right now, as Christians, many of us are not standing out at all, we are living in fear, just like everyone else.
Shouldn’t our Faith be a shining light.
Shouldn’t we be different!
Shouldn’t we be seeking truth (and not just believing the one side of the story that is fed to us by the government and the media.)
If you just stopped watching TV – and got into the Bible – watch how that will turn your life around!
If you are a Christian, and you say you believe the Bible, then you need to believe it all, from Genesis to Revelation.
You need to ask God for his help to start living it. Everyday!
When you feel the fear – speak his Word!
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalm 56:3-4 “When I am afraid, I will put my trust and faith in You.” (Amplified)
When you feel like you cannot take another step – speak His Word
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13)
Grab a book of Bible promises, do a search on Bible Promises and start getting it into you. Make that your vaccine!!!
Right now we need to be beacons of light and of hope – God’s hope
You can’t do that if you are fearful!
The only way we are going to be able to do this is if we:
- Live by the Word of God
- Live by His promises
- Take God at His Word – no questions asked!
- Believe what Jesus did at the cross!
- Speak His Word when we feel the fear rising (cause it will come at you)
- And take a stand as Christians to live by the promises of God!
- Our trust is in Him no matter what!
And then we will be able to love, care and give to others – because we are grounded in Him!
And hopefully they will see our peace, our calmness in the storm and wonder what is different!
And we will be able to say…it’s Jesus!
